The film took the high road and made the characters likable and the story sweet. Initially, I thought (and, even assumed) that the film would go down the familiar path of most teen-age dramas but that was not the case. Normally, I read the book first before watching the film. If you enjoyed reading "The Notebook", you should enjoy reading "A Walk To Remember". They are truly inspirational and memorable. These books are well-written and have translated well into the movie screen. Two of my favorite works of his are: "The Notebook" and "A Walk To Remember". He has been rather prolific in the last few years in writing various books including, "The Last Song", "Dear John", "Nights at Rodanthe", etc. Nicholas Sparks is the best popular romantic writer out there. They make you look at your own relationships (or relationships to be). Romantic works that touches the heart are worth reading.
